NAD+ Therapy in San Francisco, CA

Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+) is present in all the cells of the body and is a co-factor in the functions of the mitochondria for production of energy. It regulates a large number of cellular processes including its role in cellular energy productions and metabolism, and in the cells’ response to physiological stress as from virus invasion.

What Is NAD+ Used For?

Energy Production (ATP)

DNA Repair (PARP)

Cell Signaling

Enzyme Activity

Increased Tankyrase

Neurotransmitter

Gene Expression

NAD+ is utilized in various bodily functions and requires cellular production from precursors such as tryptophan, and vitamin B3 (nicotinic acid, nicotinamide riboside or nicotinamide mononucleotide) as it cannot be obtained from food.

Studies have demonstrated that aging and chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, heart failure, and alcoholism, decrease the levels of NAD+ in cells. These cells are unable to fully replenish NAD+, resulting in ongoing low levels, unless an external source is utilized for replacement.

There exist three methods for replacing NAD+.

  1. Niacin supplements may be sufficient for young and healthy individuals but may not meet the needs of elderly individuals and those with chronic illnesses.
  2. By intravenous infusion
  3. Administering medication intranasally can be achieved through the use of a sphenocath to the base of the skull.

The standard procedure involves using IV and sphenocath to restore the initial deficit, and possibly maintaining with sphenocath with or without IV, based on the patient’s condition.

NAD+ replacement provides relief for the symptoms of diseases and old age, including chronic fatigue, tremors and stiffness in Parkinson’s, improved memory and cognitive function, reduced anxiety, decreased cravings for alcohol and drugs, and other benefits. Patients report an overall sense of well-being and rejuvenation, but it does not offer a cure for these conditions.
