NAD+ Therapy in Burlingame, CA
Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+) is present in all the cells of the body and is a co-factor in the functions of the mitochondria for production of energy. It regulates a large number of cellular processes including its role in cellular energy productions and metabolism, and in the cells’ response to physiological stress as from virus invasion.
What Is NAD+ Used For?
Energy Production (ATP)
DNA Repair (PARP)
In performing all these functions, NAD+ is depleted. NAD+ cannot be absorbed from food and has to be made by cells from precursors including tryptophan, and vitamin B3 ( nicotinic acid, nicotinamide riboside or nicotinamide mononucleotide.
It has been well shown that aging and chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart failure, alcoholism and others lower NAD+ in their cells. the cells of these people are not capable of replacing the NAD+ completely and, therefore, they have lower levels of NAD+ continuously, unless they are replaced from an external source.
There are three ways to replace NAD+
- Taking supplements such as niacin, which may be adequate for the young and healthy but insufficient for the elderly and those with chronic diseases.
- By intravenous infusion
- By means of a sphenocath to the base of the skull intranasally.
The usual protocol is IV and sphenocath to replenish the initial deficit, the occasional maintenance with sphenocath with or without IV, depending on the Condition of the patient.
NAD+ replacement does not cure the diseases (or old age) but it offers tremendous relief of their symptoms such as chronic fatigue, tremors and stiffness in Parkinson’s, improves memory, improves cognitive function, lessens anxiety, lessens cravings for alcohol and drugs and many others. The patient feels a general sense of well-being and feels rejuvenated.
Dr. Liu has worked with Dr. Richard Mestayer of New Orleans, who is a world authority on NAD+ treatments. The California Regenerative Clinic, which Dr. Liu runs is a NAD+ treatment center.
